Great post Jim.... says it all..

I was rather worried when you were muttering into you veggie stew about only doing 15 HPM's , plainly the Moonshine worked wonders...

You never know next year it might even be blanketed with crisp & hard crusted snow under a shining moon.... it does happen, albeit rarely, as you will know more than most!

    Re: High Peak Marathon

Jim F's shoes definitely looked like they had done 15 HPM.

Seriously though congrats to everyone who finished, it wasn't the easiest and some good experienced teams didn't finish complete. I'd agree with all the previous comments on the checkpointers, chefs and organizers - if any of you are reading this, thanks (especially the kitchen bods who fed my 4 year old son sausages.) If any of the later teams didn't get sausages, I'm sorry, my 4 year old son ate them all.

And why did the checkpointers at Cut Gate have a submachine gun? I hope they had conducted an appropriate UKA risk assessment.

Anyway, I'm off to check the results again - we have lost 1 place since the event finished, at this rate by the end of the month we will be last.

no one seems to have mentioned the downfall, it was like running through a washing machine. Some good pics on the dark peak site of the Downfall falling upwards....

Well that's interesting, because we've gained 1 place since Saturday! (11th up to 10th).

Especially well done to Double Dee - we drafted him in to our team on Thursday afternoon. His recent training had only been 6 mile runs at the most, but we still managed to get round in just over 11 hours.

Sorry, almost forgot - thanks to all the brilliant marshals. The pizza at Swains Head was the best. Why on earth anyone wants to sit at one of those control points all night long is beyond me!

yes a great run and effort by darren dunn , he looked a tad tired as he sat in the hall at the end. I wouldnt have liked to have attempted that on just 6 mile runs
    well done darren d

and once again geoff , noticeable how much cake you had , tut tut

In fact Darren D. fell asleep in the hall holding a cup of tea! (And again in my car on the way home).

As for cake - you can live on it, you know. Well, beer, curry & cake, anyway! (Not to mention the 3 pieces of cake I'd had before you finished ).

Oh, by the way. Whose was that green 4WD Luv Mobile parked in the car park, taking up 2 parking spaces? I couldn't open my driver's door! Some Rucksack club member, no doubt.

    Re: High Peak Marathon

Well done everyone- all got home safe and well ( or not entirely well in some cases). Geoff B looked asfresh as he started and remarkably clean, esp well done to his team mate Darren. Overall results are on our website these are the final standing ( i hope) a couple of teams ran off with their dibbers, drop-ots and retiress confuse things too. To be honest I struggle a bit with the results software because I only use it once a year. Checking through the split times tonight. Thanks for your comments about checkpointers I've pasted them into an email to send onto them. If anyone got some photos we'd be pleased to post them on our site. Send to [email protected]. Thanks.
