Well done, use my motto, the race organisers you know the people who sort the stuff that needs sorting have so much work to do that they always get the results the wrong way round!
so in real terms OHW you came 3 or 4th

It's been to long long time 125 days 1 hour and 30 mins was the length of time from my last line up at the back of a race to the line up at the back of the duddon short race on Saturday.

Now i know i will never ever win a race i know i will never be in the headlines in the FRA mag, feck i will never even make the results in the FRA.

But the feeling of starting on Saturday was fantastic, a little nervous as i knew the impending pain was going to hurt like hell, oh and how it did not let me down, the pain going up the last fell Caw i think or as i named it death, was a stark reminder that i will never make money at this.

My legs coming down felt like they had been on an all day bender, of the beer variety, they would just not go in the right direction at all.

But for the number of times that i said to myself oh feck it just drop down here and get back to the start no one will mind, no one will care, no one will probably see, the little voice in side me said just one more step just one more km just one more hill, and in the end the pain some how gave in to the fact that if ignored for long enough will think oh sod it he is not listening to me.

So the end approached and i got there, a ripple of applause a shout from Mr c who i told to leave me alone, while i sat under a tree, sorry Mr c i just need a moment.
I had got round got blisters got pain felt sick, but had got round, on the way home, i felt the warm glow of satisfaction, nothing like the long Duddon people will have felt, nothing that will be remembered by anybody apart from me.
I felt i learnt a lot on Saturday no matter what stops you running on the fells, if you get the chance, to do it just one foot in front of the other and do it.
So spare a thought all you fast runners that pass us slow ones on an out and back race, we are there for our reasons and those reasons are many.

Any ponies doing Paddy's pole because this one is!

Love your account Amex, one that many can appreciate!

Well done Amex. Twas good to see you again on Saturday and really pleased you're back out on the fells. Ta for the encouragement/advice re the ankle - it's not as bad as I thought it would be today but still looking at a couple of weeks off I think. Still gutted I didn't finish - unfinished business at Duddon next year.

Great stuff Amex and I'll bet your "warm glow" was as great if not greater than anyone's on the long race
