I'm guessing there can't be anything as formal as an accurate Fell Pony membership list? The only criterion for being a Pony is possession of a vest;
and vests can be swapped, stolen, given as gifts, or recycled via Help the Aged or the church rummage sale...

This means that anyone can be a Pony. They might not even be a fell runner, or know that such a thing as fell running exists. They could wear their vest for gardening or shopping, or for decorating the hall.

Ponies will roam, and know no master....

Stolly, for that remark I am going to stick with you like glue on our next race with the words "THIS IS STOLLY'S VEST" printed on the back, with an arrow pointing to you.

Had a trot round the Saunders in glorious weather, came back dehydrated with sun stroke & sunburn.

My legs ARE NOT sore, and my feet ARE NOT cut to ribbons, and my waterproofs!!!!!!! and tent ARE NOT sodding wet in the garage.
