Did I hear correctly at the start? That the Great Gable checkpoint time was extended by 15 mins?
I was with the two marshalls for quite a while on gable ( prob about an hour). Two quite jolly likeable chaps. I stuck loads of jelly babies in my hat and they seem to go down well. But when Marvin came through i moved on so left the jelly babies in a poly bag for them to hand out.
It has to be the best marshal point in lakeland.
Didnt hear them say anything about extending the cut off times.

Oh and a bloody stag party came on gable , they had bottles of beer even.

I was there just before they where going to start closing the check point tried to get me to carry on

Felt tired from the start, knees started killing me going round Black Crag, final straw was felt very sick going up Pillar at a very slow plod so knew something wasn't right

First time I've ever had to retire from a race

Well done to all the forumites and lurkers who did it, and commiserations to those who had to pull out. Next year eh?

Haven't got a number for Borrowdale, but I think I'll go up for the party anyway, and the abuse opportunities on top of Dale Head. Talking of which, thanks for the support on the way round, particularly the Clayton non-runners, who'd wussed out

Hope my jellies helped . I have a good excuse for being a non wasdale runner and being a wuss - I'm far too slow but did manage to get 15 miles in, so my legs are a little tender today too!

Well done. I'm thinking of doing the same as I'm in the Lakes for a race on the Thursday before Borrowdale and may stay over for the weekend unless the weather is really crap. Where will you be camping?

Thanks to the runners who passed me (and there were many) and spurred me on ... what an amazing race ... was surprised to get round really and very glad (sort of) when the marshall at esk hause checkpoint called me back after i had missed him by about quarter of a mile ....

ps i seriously thought my legs were going to give way in greendale after that descent ... did anyone else have this?

    Re: Wasdale July 12th 2008

Not sure about Greendale but I could hardly run the last descent, and even now two days later I am struggling to get downstairs.

Thanks for the Jelly Babies Daz there were a couple left in the bag by the time I got there!

I don't remember spotting any litter on the course, hopefully a good thing.
