Just waiting for my lad to come back from Heron spotting with his Grandma, then its a 5 mile recovery crawl with him, hope he's gentle with me.
Enjoyed running with you and your mates, good positive banter, 'No quitting' and 'Never walk downhill' throw in a couple of baldies and it was like being on a route march in the good old days
You're right, t'was good craic yesterday. Wondered if you'd been out yet for your recovery 5miler? Stunning day here and I'm going out for a gentle run or at least a walk soon

Thanks to Brett and his merry men and women for another fab day out. A bit windy for me, so if that could be sorted in next year's race planning, I'd be grateful.
Doughnuts at Mankinholes went down well, except with my mate who spent some time trying to work where the blood on his hands was coming from, before realsing it was strawberry jam.

Thanks ML, but did you notice, one more nipple each than the norm, and two extra toes.

    On me or the Toddies

Funny you should mention jam/blood. Caught up with a chap on the climb up to top ot stairs who was obviously struggling, his chin was covered in claret. Asked him if he was ok, as you do, fine he says, its a tough one this, suddenly dawned on me he'd just had a doughnut at the last checkpoint

    That's the longest i've run/ raced.
I feel knackered but my legs feel fine.
    What's that all about?

Thanks to Brett and his team for a well organised event. What a beautiful route....couldnt believe it was sooooooo windy for so long tho! Met some lovely people and had a great time. My first event of more than 26 miles....think I might well try another. Legs feel ok today after a couple of hours on the bike in glorious sunshine

I feel fine but my legs are knackered Walking up the road to buy a paper this morning was more than enough exercise for the day. The soles of my feet kept me awake half the night they're so painful - I guess it's the shock of paths and roads instead of the usual bogs and tussocks!

Somehow I'd convinced myself that when I did this race 2 years ago I'd taken 8.5 hours, but on looking at the results it turns out it was actually 6 hours 43.
So I was only 15 minutes faster this year, though the course was a couple of miles longer.

Cracking day out, big taa t'Organisers & Marshalls.
My mate's wheels fell off at Stoodley, so it was a crawl back from there.
(Took a rather interesting lenghty detour to Heptonstall, all miles in't bank!)
Weather was a bonus (once out of that wind), had expected a drowning tracking forecast all week.
The donuts & cake stall at Checkpoint 9 looked ace, resisted as was saving mesen for meal at end.
First time out, hope to be back next year.
    No run planned today......

    Thanks Brett. Great event.
Never saw the donuts or hotdogs but I find it hard to cope with food and run so I suspect I didn't look too hard.
Easy ( haha) orienteering interclub race today over the limestone of Farleton,I bet i looked funny trying to run towards the end but I'm now hoping I won't be stiff tomorrrow.
