My quads are still aching, but the most uncomfortable thing at the moment are my ankles - they've not quite got to grips (quite literally at points) with contouring steep slopes, and are telling me about it. Hopefully a run tomorrow should shake that out.

Still, for what I've worked out is the longest race I've done, the most climb and and the only race with anything other than fairly friendly conditions, I'm quite happy to have been able to cross the line still running!

Though it would be interesting to go back and actually see the route at some point!

Yeah, it was really weird. I wasn't aware of any cut offs at all, none were mentioned at registration or in the starter's announcements.

I was told afterwards that they were posted up in the hall somewhere, although I always make a point of checking the posters and I only saw an advert for the Pete Bland map.

The cut offs were indeed posted in the hall for all to see. I certainly saw them.

Any experienced (that's what the ER bit means) fell runner would expect cut-off times on an AL race over that sort of country. How long would you want to keep the marshals out in that sort of weather?

I infer that you mean I expect marshalls to wait as long as necessary for inexperienced idiots to blunder past.

There should indeed be cut offs, and as an experienced fell runner (I know what ER means) I am well used to them. And I have myself marshalled at cut off points in the past and timed runners out - not a pleasant experience but sometimes necessary.

If the race organiser wants 6 minute miling that is their choice and all runners should comply with this.

I merely pointed out on this thread that as far as I know there is a cut off of 1:30 at Checkpoint 3 for the benefit of future readers of the thread. And then the following conversation was pointing out that I wasn't 100% sure of this because I hadn't seen them posted and none of the other race officials I spoke to knew about the cut off.

I do think the time should have been more clearly posted, as in my experience they usually are (I have experience, Rudolph), but that is something I would pass on directly to the RO and not moan about on here.

Cut off times fine - but if it indeed is 1:30 for CP3, that's crazy - I was slightly over that last year and I remember being passed by Karen Nash (amongst others) between 3 & 4.
If a runner of her calibre was to be timed out then the cut-off is wrong.

1:30 would be a crazy time for CP3 - 1:45 would be more appropriate.

In 2006 where they have the sportident splits, the first 1:30+ runner had a finishing time of 3:26 and a typical 1:30 - 1:40 split gave a finishing time of 3:30-3:45.

Yeah, I'd have said 1:30 is tight, 1:45 was fair and 2:00 would be really loose.

Its perfectly possible we misheard the time as we were in the middle of a race in bad weather.

If anyone saw the time posted in the hall, could you post it here? Then I'll know if its worth having another attempt next year. 1:45 would be easy to get through.

This was a cracking race but its not without communication problems. I couldn't find an official website with information.

Before the race I e-mailed the organiser to find out if its entry on day, or pre entry only. Quite an important question. No reply.

I didn't see the cut off times in the Hall and genuinely didn't know there were any. I had turned up for a steady run so it would have been useful to have known there were cut off times.

If anyone can find out what the official cut off times are I'll post them here for future reference, along with other useful info like 'entry on day' and no qualifying races needed.

But that's not the point - you run a race under the organiser's conditions, including his cutoffs. If you don't like the conditions, don't run the race!

And all we're doing is asking what the organiser's conditions were SO THAT WE CAN COMPLY WITH THEM.

You saw the cut off times, so can you confirm it was 1:30 at CP3.

Does anyone have an idea of when or where the results will be published? Sedbergh results are usually on the FRA website but seems like there isn't even a slot for them this year?

Was a club championship race and I was a bit sloppy and didn't take times down so eager to know winners time at least.
