    2010 Dates

I am dismayed by the completely unnecessary and Gadarene behaviour to early race entries but I am receiving enquiries about the 2010 dates from people wishing to book holidays etc.

So, just for information, the dates for the 2010 races can be found from the link on Home page/Championships/8th (sic) LCT -with thanks to Margaret & Brett. The other out of date info. shown here will be excised shortly and all info. about the LCT will eventually be contained on the dedicated LCT site.

If I get a gaderine will it pass the kit check if it has taped seams?
Actually I've just looked it up - 'Moving rapidly, without control, headlong...' sounds like some of my races (except for the moving rapidly bit)

Now Now. You know I always use le mot juste.

Early warnng: my LCT article for The Fellrunner describes something as serendipitous. No other word will do.

I wonder what has brought about this increased level of entry to the longer races? The first time I entered Ennerdale it was cancelled due to lack of entries - remember Joss trying hard to persuade more people to enter Ennerdale at the Duddon start that year? Wait a minute, I've just remembered who to blame..... All joking aside Graham and Brian we have a lot to thank you for, some of these races might have gone by the wayside if not for your efforts, although I suppose Dockray Helvellyn did just that and I regret never having raced it although I have run the route a few times. (and thanks to the organisers who were able to keep them going in the face of declining numbers) - apart from the Old County Tops a few times I had never done anything much longer than Borrowdale before and the LC series was what gave me the shove in the direction of doing the properly long races - we can hardly complain now if they are sometimes oversubscribed, I would rather have that than no races.

I wonder if there has a been a proportionately large increase in long races that are EOD.
A theory of mine is that the reason pre entry long races get quickly oversubscribed is because of the very reason that they are pre-entry, i.e. the race can only take a finite number of entries due to carpark space or whatever, so people tend to think it's pre-entry because it's often oversubscribed so better get my entry in early in case I miss out?

I have to admit when I saw Ennerdale was a championship race this year I thought "better get my entry in early", one only has to look at the forum to know how many people have been asking for Borrowdale, Langdale, etc entries this year.

Probably a lot of truth in that; next years Keswick Tri sold out in under 3 days, purely on reputation (it's a nice race, but it's not that good!)

Maybe the future is for some of these long races to revert to EOD. Fair enough that may cause serious cash flow issues, but, if they can be overcome, then at least no forumites can whinge about entrants not turning up!
