    Re: Today's poet

    Faith is not enough

Why won't you talk to me what have i done,
I've been left alone by you never to be seen again,
Always in the pit reaching for your son,
It seems that i've started early for my eternal pain.

    Power,Principalities,Thrones and Dominions,
You seem to both fight it out on this earthly plane,
And use people like me your puppets, your minions,
I just want answers from either of you again.

If i'm in your image then you are everything that i be,
It would seem that you and i are more flawed than most,
So are you trying to tell me you were flesh and bone humanity,
Then why make up the story about the godhead ,son and ghost.

I would be happy to follow but faith's not my cup of tea,
Come show something to all of us then i might trust,
If i've understood you right then god is you,you and me,
This is the last chance i'm giving you to show your cards or go bust.

'Spell' by Kate Clanchy (b. Glasgow, 1965)

If, at your desk, you push aside your work,
Take down a book, turn to this verse,
and read that I kneel here, pressing
my ear where on your chest the muscles
arch as great books part, in seagull curves,
bridging the seasounds of your heart,

and that your hands run through my hair,
draw the wayward mass to strands
as flat as scarlet silk-thread bookmarks,
and stroke my cheeks as if smoothing
back the tissue leaves from chilly,
plated pages, and pull me near to read my eyes alone,

    then you shall see,
    silvered and monochrome, yourself,
sitting at your desk, taking down a book,
turning to this verse, and then, my love,
you shall not know which one of us is reading,
now, which is writing, and which written.

Nothing that good ever happens at my work. Well not today anyway.

    A nice poem though.

It is beautiful round there. Have a good day out TM. Which bit are you planning to do? Kinder side or Mam Tor to Lose Hill ridge?

Not as much as yesterday. It looks like there is still some in patches on the tops, but I've been in the clouds most of the day.

    The Devil In Me.

The night is when it finds me most,
He slips in silently as a ghost,
Every time he eggs me on to do things that are not safe for me.

Daring me to drink, smoke, inject and cut,
Exquisite tortures for me are infinite,
Visage changing when i look in the mirror,
Incarnate evil reflection shows i will deliver,
Love doing this to myself, killing myself ruining my health.

In ecstasy i feel the crimson flow out of me,
    Never doubting the moments purity.

My time is done the nurse has seen me in my cell,
Everything goes black i will try it again tomorrow don't tell.
