    Sad,Altruistic,Nothing,Empty.
    Insensitive,Nightcrawler,Sensual,Animal,Neverendin g,Ecstasy.

    Late Fragment

    And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
    I did.
    And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
    beloved on the earth.

    Raymond Carver

this is really quite inspired...i think we all benefit greatly from your elaboration of such intense emotions.....this poem throws up loads of interesting questions for me, one of which is "what is the definition of freedom?" ...thanks tri

I quite fancy a lot from both lists actually!

I'll just not be saying which.

and read that I kneel here, pressing
my ear where on your chest the muscles
arch as great books part, in seagull curves,
bridging the seasounds of your heart,

and that your hands run through my hair,
draw the wayward mass to strands
as flat as scarlet silk-thread bookmarks,
and stroke my cheeks as if smoothing
back the tissue leaves from chilly,
plated pages, and pull me near to read my eyes alone,

    then you shall see,
    silvered and monochrome, yourself,
sitting at your desk, taking down a book,
turning to this verse, and then, my love,
you shall not know which one of us is reading,
now, which is writing, and which written.
A lovely poem and what an image.
you see...that's the advantage of working from home! This is the kind of break that would make me the happiest whipppet in town, but my colleagues...well would they understand?

    Hello OW!

in response to your question...why not print off the poem and put it on your wall...then see if there is a reaction!!!! ...anyway, surely the whole point is that this refers to the spiritual connection between two people, that the other is "there" in the spiritual sense, but also a "felt sense" as you can almost feel them touching you with their presence...aye its powerful stuff like!!!!

    Two cures for love
1 Don’t see him. Don’t phone or write a letter.
2 The easy way: get to know him better.

I love Wendy Cope. A super sense of humour.

    Loss

The day he moved out was terrible –
That evening she went through hell.
    His absence wasn’t a problem
But the corkscrew had gone as well.
