Emailed BN sec re A races and got this back
The 3 "A" class races can have been completed at any time in the past, you are merely
confrming that you have completed 3 "A" class runs.

That will hopefully be me if i get in! It only costs me £15 as I'm in scottish athleticsIts a bit unfair what if you are u/23 and its your first Ben Race
Quite scary thought for Ben race as entered this year, first timer!!!!
Reading 220 mag yesterday read about Ben Nevis triathlon, 1.9km swim, 90km on mountainbike THEN run to summit of Ben Nevis and back. Comment by one that run took 3 1/2 hrs!!
Now feel a bit of a wimp.![]()
After 90k on a mountain bike I'm not surprised they took 3 1/2 hours.
Yeah but that's on top of an already expensive race.
The difference between £17 and the meagre £2.50 entry fee for the Half Tour of Pendle is enough to get me pi**ed in the Grog & Gruel afterwards.
On the other hand maybe I'm being unkind and not giving this enough forethought ~ perhaps those nice Scottish people will be including some exciting freebies on the day...........or even a full size bottle of the famous Ben Nevis dew????
I doubt it.
Two years ago my wife entered and didn't run, because she found out she was selected for the Worlds. Last year I entered and didn't run because I'd just ran the UTMB (entered after the Ben), and was also selected to run the 100k at the commonwealth event in Keswick for Wales. Many others would be injured or have similar clashes.
Early entry you just have to put with 10% no show. There's normally a genuine reason and the extra £7 wouldn't affect me at all. Afterall compared to the £100+ spent on travel, accomodation and booze, it's piss all.
its a brilliant race
17 quid is good value id say.
costs me a fair bit for the weekend but i save my money so it is was it is.
It was a lot more than 10% no shows last year though, 600 entries and about 460 starters last year, thats more than 20% no shows.Early entry you just have to put with 10% no show.
Maybe the bumped up fee will make people commit a bit more.
Just sent the form off . Long way away and lots to do before then . But , looking forward to it![]()
