    Re: Holme-Moss

At long last got to run this race after about 5 years of trying!

Not the best performance though, the wheels fell off by Crowden and then again before the last climb. One of those days I guess! So will have to be happy with 3h 16m.

Great to meet up with new folk and some old faces from Harriers days. Ta to all involved for the organising the event, brill.

Good to get 4000 ft out of the hills around Holme Moss don't you think?

The place of infinite tea also turned out to be the place of infinite mud! This was easily as hard as Ennerdale.

I also look damned rough in Shaun P's photos....

I remember going thigh-deep at one point in the peat (not sure where - it's all a blur!) & debating momentarily whether to giggle or cry?

Slept till 09:40 this morning, & couldn't walk downstairs properly.
I think the most energetic thing I'm planning on doing is walking (hobbling?) down the garden & getting in the Hot-Tub

We also met quite a few times, I was the blonde girl with a red and white stripey Calder Valley vest.

It was a tough slog early on running into a head wind, I felt shattered by the time I got to the road. It was great leaning into the wind on the first big descent, never descended as quickly as that before. Then we hit the mist and bogs, can't believe it was as dry as a bone only 2 weeks ago. Picked some dodgy lines after Laddow Rocks near the river, god knows how many times I crossed that river and I know the best line but the head had gone and I followed everyone else. Still managed to knock 15 minutes off last years time and got a sub 4 hours so well chuffed.

Thanks to all the guys and girls from Holmfirth Harriers for putting on a splendid race...........never again! (but then I said that last year)

looking for the results I found that dark peak have recorded their times and places here - so if like me you dashed home to watch 'le tour' you may be interested to try and work out your time - if you came in somewhere near a dark peak runner you know the name of! http://www.dpfr.org.uk/#/results/race/2343

I also found richard t's report of the day on a mountain bike blog thing and laughed and laughed - yes I too drank a similar cocktail of drinks, pop and tea and found the same! however richard you have used a picture of me and mrs stagger in your replies - I'll pm you with details of how to pay us our roylaties!! oh and that pic was taken on the way out, before the car park and before the mist decsended.

Feeling VERY jealous reading all these posts after my nightmare, I can't remember the last time I retired, possibly Tankys in 06 but at leas that time Imade it half way and not a very poor 1 mile.

Good to see so many of you there though and that made up for it alittle.

I think I got fed up explaining about my dicky ticker but heres an update. I ended up spending the night in Sheffields Northern General Hospitals Cardiac Ward after the condition I had during the start of the race continued through the day I felt like a pin cushion with needles and electrodes all over my body. I had Atrial fibrillation Any how they pumped me full of drugs and was well enough to come home a short while ago. I won't be racing though for a week or two....maybe:wink:
