Re: Crowden Horseshoe - 13 May

cracking race this. I trotted round and I chatted too much to people and the end came a bit suddenly! Should have pushed myself a bit more really...

Think one of our runners broke his nose and 2 guys lost the sole of their walshes which must have been a nightmare!

Well done to winners. Some top runners there.

    RR 1st in 55.00
    Tim Davies 2nd in 56.01
    Lloyd 3rd

Race was tough, very wet underfoot. I lead up the hill, with Tim and Lloyd both very close. Over lad stone rocks was good going and the river at the back was getting full. Hit the flags and started moving well. Got attacked off some mad dog towards the trig point. Gave the owner the usual mouthful to which he gave as good back. This continued as I ran to the trig and turned right. The rest of the course was very muddy in places and wet. Some of the finishers had made the most of the free mud and had a full body mud bath!!!!!!! Many had cut legs as they returned. Saw one man fall badly towards the finish after the steep hill. Started to rain just as I was finishing. Really well organised race and pleanty of flags out to say Des was in charge!!!!!

Thanks for the report RR. Sounded tough out there today - hope everyone was ok and the injuries were minor.

Cracking time mate - brilliant run in those conditions

In my case I think it looked worse than it actually was. I never look good at the end of a race and from the way people were looking at me today it must have looked bad. Have got cuts on the forehead and nose (fortunately not a broken nose) and various other abrasions. Thanks to everyone who expressed concern.

I must stay on my feet in next weeks Fairfield Horseshoe

a good race , a tad crowded at the start up to the stile
    lots of new faces
    finally met moo and roadruner
the flags were indeed hard work andi, lots of younger runners and at one point i was running with four of the nicest looking ladies ive ever seen .
it was noticeable how some of the usual faces kept passing some of the runners that perhaps dont normally run as much on the fells when we hit he technical parts
i past 12 runners at one point only to be overtaken on the last bit of track before the tricky descent at the finish were i than re took 5 of them back only to be passed by a young lady 1 mtr before the last stile , she leaped over like bambi and left me standing

an outstanding run by roadrunner who was to be found having a crafty burger at the snap wagon , after introducing myself to andi he then came out with the quote of the day

daz i think im gonna keep off the fells for a bit to get some speed back
jeez andi , speed back ,
can you send me some of them batteries that are in you
thanks to des and the team , brilliant
nice to get peated up again after the dry weather, a bit unsure where i was in the race at times as not many of the usual faces around me.
luvshack i thought i was mad running with no shirt on in the cold but you do it most races
