Wheezing Donkey, you were a star in lending me your fleece, but there was no way I was getting in that bivvy bag with you! Also many, many thanks for sorting out Steve's car, so very kind of you.
We were all looking rather blue by the time the MR heli team arrived and did a grand job of getting Steve stretchered off the hillside....a slow jog back down the road to the start got some feeling back into my toes!

Amex you're well 'ard and did so well in keeping calm. Speedy recovery to you so you can get back to your plans
Great work MG, I am sure that in Steve's eyes you will always be remembered as a Mountain Godess for that.

Those volunteers at the mountain rescue are the salt of the earth.

For those who don't know, Amex is a stalwart member of his own local Mountain Rescue team.
I'm sure it wasn't his ambition to do so, but he finally gets to appear in a report:

these reports are always written in a plain clear manor, but open Fracture is not a nice thought esp when it'd some one you know....

Just had a text from Steve, he's a bit down but ok.

Well done MG I am sure Amex is extremely grateful you were there to look after him. Also well done to everyone else, the passers by MG mentioned, Wheezing Donkey and the mountain rescue. Just shows how important it is to support them.

Sounds nasty though Amex. Really hope you mend quickly, speedy recovery vibes coming your way.

I did not get to drive it HOME, young Al. All the cars had to be out of the compound at Hodge Close by 18.00 on Saturday as the gate was going to be locked. Having stashed Steve's bumbag & rucksack from the marquee in the boot, I just drove it round to the 3 Shires Inn and left the keys with Selwyn & Elaine to hold behind the bar, as Alison ( Mrs Amex ) was organising a lift up with Amex Junior to pick it up.
Had a quick visit with Steve in the RLI yesterday afternoon ( did not want to intrude for too long, he had quite a family gathering around him, obviously a much loved fella ) as I only live 400 - 500 yards away.
His foot is now back in line with his leg and everything has been "pinned, plated and screwed".
Here's hoping that you make a full recovery Steve, althought it is unlikely to be a "quick" one!
The lovely Mountain Goatess, my mate Andy Farmer ( Fiendsdale R.O.) and I were amongst first half dozen to get up to Steve ( from the 3 Shires Stone ) when he started "screaming and hollering". When I saw the state of his ankle with his foot dangling to one side, I must confess that I nearly "yodelled for Hughie". Andy F played a blinder, ran down to the road, grabbed somebody's cell-phone then hot-footed up Wetside Edge to get a signal and got the first call into 999/Police to alert the MRT.
