    Edale Skyline Eligibility

I have wanted a go at the Edale Skyline since seeing this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVfzOCq_vWE . Its what gave me the final push to take up fell running.
Two years on I have done a couple of A M races, several 3hr mini mms and the SLMM but no A long races.

Would I be eligible to enter next year.

I think I did it without ever having done an AL. Doesn't the entry form say A and L separately? Maybe it's got more strict in recent years.

Given your experience, you should be fine getting in. It's a lot more experience than I had.

Just add a note to your entry form with a list of what you've done, times and in which year. The race organiser needs to know you stand a good chance of finishing the event without getting yourself in danger. The Edale race is a good first AL because most of it is runnable. Since you're fairly close you could recce it in 2 halves and get a feel for the cut-off time to Mam Nick.

    Re: Edale Skyline 2011

I was thinking of entering this as preparation for the 3P next year and am a bit worried by the "experience" section on the entry form - I relatively new to fell and long distance (>13miles) running and am a bit worried I don't have enough experience to be able to get a place. My friend is also thinking of entering and she doesn't think she isn't sure either.
We've both done Whernside, Yorkshireman1/2, Withins Skyline this year, a couple of Calderdale Way Relays, a couple of Bradford Millenium Way relays, the UKA fell relays last year and an AS at Kettlewell. I've also done Winter Hill this year and the Auld Lang Syne a couple of times and she has some experience from orienteering in the past.
Do we have enough "experience" for this race?

Yes you probably do but get a bit more distance training in. The race is said to start at Mam Nick aprox 1/2 way round so you need to have enough left in the tank for the more exposed section of the race. If in doubt you could always do the Grindleford Gallop which is a week or 2 before. If the weather is good it's straight forward enough but do a quick google search for pictures of 2007 to see what it can be like.
