Thanks MG! I like the ditty very much. I hope your 17miler went well.
I also really did like your Japanese poem and, in light of what is happening there, it was very appropriate and a tad more important than my birthday! It is horrifying isn't it? I was in Thailand days after their tsunami and it was really harrowing. So much loss and devastation on so many levels. Humans are so small and insignificant compared to the immense force of nature...
Oh Freckle...its a special place here on the thread isn't it?! (hope that doesn't sound too cheesy but its how I feel. I do think it has a unique quality and sense of solidarity) I hope you enjoyed that run today. I really love your new signature, so true!xxx
ps...call me sentimental, but I've just copied and kept all of your birthday poems so that I can look at them whenever its a lonely day in Masham! Thank you.x

I have days like that regularly! loved your little ditty and 17 miles? v impressed. I had a lovely long run today with two canine friends and can't wait til I am properly part time in April to get more miles in although my knee still needs a bit of strengthening for those hills!
Hes I am pleased you enjoyed all of the contributions, I don't think you sound cheesy at all, this thread can be a very warm place, enjoy the rest of your birthday weekend my dear x x x
There were some smashing poems written for Hes birthday. Well done everyone![]()
No bays or mountains where I live but some decent hills that look down on the towns around me when I am out running near home.
The Mountain Road
Coming down the mountain road
Light of heart and all alone,
I caught from every rill that flowed
A rapture of its own.
Heart and mind sang on together,
Rhymes began to meet and run
In the windy mountain weather
And the winter sun.
Clad in freshest light and sweet
Far and far the city lay
With her suburbs at her feet
Round the laughing bay.
Like an eagle lifted high
Half the radiant world I scanned,
Till the deep unclouded sky
Circled sea and land.
No more was thought a weary load,
Older comforts stirred within,
Coming down the mountain road
The earth and I were kin.

Hes.....
Scribbled some words
Been rather naughty

Wor Hesters' forty
A wish for a friend
I've yet to meet
Happy Birthday Hes
Is my greet.
If yer were here
A hug or a kiss
Alas, browse the thread
An mek do wi this.
Your words are clever
Your art is pretty
Happy Birthday Hes
Is my ditty.
