    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Donkey, I heard the Dragon Ride was a shambles... I have never understood it nor had the inclination to ride it, as I can ride much nicer routes any day of the year without the hassle of having to queue or pay for the privilege!

If you ever fancy a GOOD ride out around these parts, let me know and I guide you along! Lovely roads, fab views, quiet lanes, mountain climbs, lovely villages to stop for coffee and cake contrasted with exposed, rough mountain tops

No queues, and all it costs you is a cup of coffee and a piece of cake

Bry's lemon drizzle will do nicely

A shambles is an excellent word to describe it! If I'm ever in South Wales with two wheels I'll give you a shout Hann. I must admit the area looked very promising but alas the organisers didn't do it justice. It looks like good running country too.

My Dad heard about the Dragon Ride in Cycling Weekly and thought it might be a good one but he's never going to ride it again now. The worrying thing is it's going to be a UCI Gold standard event next year. I wonder what all those European riders who turn up next year will make of it?

Just back from my first ride on a cyclocross bike. Can't believe how much easier it was than my mountain bike. Fast? I took nearly 25 minutes off my usuall time on a MB. No wonder my training partner used to trash me on his road bike. Found the seating position a little strange and the not used to the handle bars/gear/brakes of a drop but I could get to like this....
about 18 miles and mashed the pedals hard, about 9 of it was off road, All in aid of a little thing called the 3peak yacht race...

I thought cyclo cross was all about the pain?

Anyway all this sportive talk I reckon we should have a a forum ride of the Ronde Van Oost Lancashire next year. Looks like a right cracker. Mentioned it on here before, and Daz and Nikalas seemed interested.

This is becoming a problem at these rides. The organisers are reluctant to allow more than a few riders off at the start at once. Its part of the agreements with the police. You simply cannot allow 2/3/4000 cyclists away on an open road all one go. Bloody annoying though and there has to be a better way todo the starts.
Dont worry the EUro riders will be okay with a bit of waiting.
Whats the gold standard for the Dragon Ride ?

Oh hang on a Wiggins is on the front of the bunch in the Dauphine
