........ unfortunately I slipped on some wet rock and took a really nasty fall, which laid my shin open to the bone. A slow descent down to Blea Tarn and most of the bleeding had stopped by then so I decided to crack on and finish the race

I was wearing mudclaw 272s, don't think they're better or worse than anything else on wet rock. They might be a bit worn down though, perhaps I should have pulled a new pair out for this, it was very wet.
