Just back from a "hair of the dog" run consisting of 2 laps of the local playing fields on jellied legs - heaven knows what the dog walkers must have thought.....
Yesterday was bloody hard work - was going Ok up to Ribblehead but had no energy whatsoever on the climb up Whernside, did have 1 or 2 moments where I thought it would put me out of my misery if I didn't make the Hill Inn cut off but then with the encouragement of my fellow back markers & 1 or 2 spectators pushed on to make it with less than 2 mins to spare. Think I was the last to leave the checkpoint after having a comfort break. Pleased to see the lady with the recorder on the way up to Inglebugger - brought a smile to my very weary face. Finished with a pw - but heck who cares - got round 1 of the most prestigous races in the calender.
Thank you to all the marshalls, support & cameraderie of fellow runners. A pleasure to meet Witton Park - initially to point out my flat tyre (!), fellow forumites and my pit stop crew for assisting in replacing aformentioned tyre after the finish.
Good to see / hear the injured fellsman person was being looked after, with nothing too serious - relatively speaking.
