Looked at wife and said I'm running to the race, she called me words I will not repeat on the forum and give me the look that only women can give. So it's full kit on, bumbag fully loaded and unfortunately fell shoes for some horrible road running. I kept my vest covered, didn't wanna look a complete dick running down the A66. I was flying down the road and my feet were protesting. Got 7 miles down the road and my wife pulls alongside. Made the race and totally bonked at the top of Robinson, completed the race in 2hr. In hindsight I should of stayed in car but it looked like we were going nowhere fast. Was it a good idea to run to the race? At the time yes, once racing, no...many thanks to all involved, cracking route, organisation and food...cheers.

Really enjoyed it yesterday and, not sure how but I clocked a PB by 12 minutes.
I know the start and finish moved but I doubt it made that much difference.
Great organisation as usual and the veggie stew really hit the spot. Any chance of the recipe?
Feel sorry for those involved in the RTA though. Looked a nasty one.
Pic of RF-R off on a lonely day out on the TWA before winning by a mile (literally!)

It feels wrong, too far left, but it pops out perfectly at the bottom. I always make up ground on ppl going the other way, ie well to the right, and it's good ground with few hidden rocks albeit somewhat steep. Try it
I'm still undecided - it either this or the wide swing to the right, all runnable on grass as fast as you like. Took that line yesterday following a Borrowdale vest (he must have been having a bad day!) and made up plenty of time and half a dozen places on those taking a more direct line.

Was it 1999 when Anni Waltz was run with a heavy snow covering, someone described the descent off Dalehead as being like a black ski run

Yes I think you're right with the year. I definitely remember that descent.

Thanks To Wynn, Steve and everyone else involved. I was a bit concerned about starting due to an injury which drastically spoiled Coledale for me last week so I was a bit worried about meeting the cut off at Newlands but my (currently) geriatric descending meant my climbs were faster than usual so I only lost about 20 minutes on last years time overall.
I would (without wanting to start an argument) like to particularly thank Wynn and Steve for having the resolve to go ahead with these races in the current circumstances and especially for the sensible decision that windproofs were suitable on this occasion.

I wouldn't describe the pic as crap, for me it's quite an atmospheric picture.
