My missus Helen did her BGR exactly a year ago. She wrote an account of it at the time, but being a modest lass decided to keep it to herself. We were just crossing Little Narrowcove on the OCT last Saturday (not in the best conditions I have to say) and were discussing her BGR and how time flies. She surprised me by saying she intended to make her blog public, here it is - enjoy:

You missed the one about Trooper Lane Ben. Is that a "secret"?![]()
Poacher turned game-keeper
Haha I forgot about that one ;-)... https://www.inov-8.com/blog/super-trooper-hill-reps/
It's good to read the blog of a top runner and see that you are never satisfied.
I'm at a much lower level but feel exactly the same. Never happy with my performance, to the point of my parents and friends thinking I've got some sort of problem...!
After finishing the Welsh 1000metres on Saturday on the hottest day of the year, in the top half, and after only fell racing for a year, and spending 10 minutes face down on the Pyg Track with cramp from pushing too hard, I'm still unhappy and it will be in my mind until next year.
thankfully some of the races I did last year are coming round again so I can get them out of my system. See you soon Stretton Skyline and Black Mountains, I have scores to settle with you!
I used to occasionally do reps on a hill 260ft high (about two-thirds the height of Trooper Lane). 4 reps usually, I think I managed 6 once, definitely not 10. Then after one session I decided that it was just too painful, and never did them again.
Thus we see the difference between a champion like Mounsey and an also-ran like me.
