Remain lost because 28% of eligible voters couldnt be bothered to get off their arses to vote, probably have voted remain as obviously happy with the status quo.

Not so sure. For some that's probably true. But I spoke to a friend the other night who said he wasn't voting because he couldn't decide which way to vote. I think that's a legitimate democratic choice.

If you want to point the finger of blame, what about the 41% of Mancunians who stayed away from the polls? A big metropolitan area like that! Even beaten by the Scalleys with a 64% turnout!
Spot on. But there are a lot of people who didn't know. The nastiness around this morning is quite saddening. But for what it's worth a few points.

The markets dropping have been accepted by all. The drop today is greatly exaggerated because they rose yesterday anticipating a Remain vote.
It's also the type of market where the speculators come in and out to take a quick profit.

    It will settle down.

Cameron - a few weeks ago he said he would invoke Article 50 immediately following a Brexit vote. That would have been reckless.
    He's stepped back from that.
    Very misleading though.

Romano Prodi - this morning said it was a shame that the EUs strongest armed forces had now left before they had established the European Armed force.
    Interesting comment I thought.

I think they see themselves like Slovakia: they want to be independent of big brother next door, but still a member of the community of small nations in Europe.

Actually the analogy goes further: Slovakia has more and bigger mountains than the Czech Republic (like Scotland has, relative to England); Slovakia is more sparsely populated than the Czech Republic; the Slovaks speak a language which is just about mutually intelligible with Czech.

But isn't that the UK's position, independent of big brother, in this case the EU, but an important part of the world wide community.
