Revealing quote form the Irish Times article from Francis O'Donnell CEO of the IFPO:
“There should be no rush in bringing in such legislation as we believe that strategically Ireland is weakening its own hand prior to Brexit negotiations,” Mr O’Donnell says, and his board is seeking an urgent meeting with Mr Creed. (Minister for Marine).
The Irish Government has obviously agreed and shelved its plans to legislate. It is all about leverage. Doesn't appear to be much in the way of concerns for easing tensions with Northern Ireland.
