Keswick AC have cancelled all their 2020 races but they appear to have some innovative plans to keep competition alive with the use of technology could be worthwhile keeping an eye out for the virtual races. :-

Interesting observations in church today. Most of the over-70s who come regularly were there (including one who had a preaching engagement elsewhere, but that church had cancelled its service), even though they are supposedly vulnerable. But the groups who were conspicuous by their absence were the Chinese and Africans (we are a very international church).

Incidentally, Molehill, I'm surprised that you aren't taking the opportunity of an extended stay in the lovely island of Madeira.

    An interesting point.

I ran Wednesday and returned home with a sore throat. Fine before I set off. Thought nothing of it and during the day it eased to practically non-existent.

Thursday I woke up with the throat feeling worse than the day before but it eased after a brew.

I did a similar run to Wednesday. A little faster mph and no problems. Back home and shower.
Got on with work, processing and packing the orders and done by 1:30pm so instead of waiting for wife to come home, I walked to drop of the Hermes parcels and then on to the Post Office.

My sore throat developed in to a cough whilst stood in the queue at the PO. It was a very light tickle but under the circumstances I was conscious to not cough, to just get my parcels done and get out and back home. Had a little bit of a cob on which could have been nerves.
It was nippy, and I'd warpped up well, so maybe why I'd felt warm and also why I'd developed this very short-term cough.

Friday, woke up with a sore throat again. Did a 4 miler.

All 3 runs around 9 min miling which is par for me on those sort of runs.

I'm sat here Sunday evening. No cough. No temperature. But still a slight sore throat.

Have I got it or had it?

I tend to think not. Because in Lancashire we've only had a handful of cases. I'm also a home worker anyway and my only public exposure over the last week has been at the Stan Bradshaw, The Post Office 3 times. at Turf Moor last week when we drew with Spurs and with couriers arriving at home

    But who knows?

I'm planning a run tomorrow all being well. It won't be much. Probably 3-4 mile at around 9 mins again.

But how many have it and aren't sure?

As an aside the Catholic Church in several countries has suspended performing mass.
    Which is probably a first.

Don't worry about your cough WP. Burnley has been voted the least woke place in Britain.

Now that is something to be proud of!

Surely the most contagious aspect of running in a fell race is not the race itself but cramming into a village hall etc for registration and prize presentation

For the long events it is also immunodepletion making runners more susceptible to any bug out there.

Yes. Organisers can mitigate the risk but a lot is on the competitors here. E.g. at the champs race on saturday someone who's husband "definitely has it" (their words) was in attendance and talked to my other half, who is a medical professional (midwife). Needless to say upon this becoming clear the covo was stopped.

Whilst I agree in principle with the FRA's stance published last night, its ability to work is dependant upon people acting sensibly and in the greater interest. And for whatever reason (selfishness, lack of knowledge, blasé etc.) often people won't do that.

Exactly. Only have to look at the general attitude to taking safety kit to realise the most people dont give a sh!t.

The debate on facebook looks like it will reach "GPS debate" levels of hysteria... anyone would think the FRA are going to be rounding people up at gunpoint and forcing them to race against their will...

As ba-ba says, I think they have made the correct decision and it is up to members to take a bit of responsibility.
