Yes very true. Of my 10 mile run, (with one allowed friend) only 3 miles was within the Harewood Estate itself, which was very busy. The other 7 miles on the Leeds Country Way to East Keswick and then along the Wharfe was very quiet.

No. Not at all. It was Trump who simplified tax systems, cut back on red tape and rebooted enterprise.

Much of which we could do with in the UK.

As the DT says "what the world needs right now is Trumpism, but without Trump."

Sorry Graham but f*** that. Justifying such a complete monster because he was good for Wall Street is no argument. Any twat can throw money at business and cut regulations but that doesn’t mean that it’s good for society. Even if a few investors do okay out of it

Now now. In your excitement don't confuse the message with the messenger. I was not justifying anything.

I was accurately noting that in recent weeks with the prospect of a Biden victory becoming more likely the financial pages have generally expressed concerns, in terms of the UK, about the economic downside of a Biden victory, particularly post-Brexit.

That's what financial commentators are paid to do - commentate on financial matters, not societal issues.

I've been to the USA at least a dozen times on business and pleasure but I've never been offered a vote - although Biden didn't seem to need it.

    This is a big deal.

It’s easy to do it the cheap way and get away with stuff — but it comes back around.

    I'm with you Graham.
Give me the choice between a genial, nice guy, great uncle type character who seems to be suffering from early onset dementia and a flawed, rude, narcissistic, cantankerous oaf who can manage the economy competently and I'll take the oaf and put up with his behaviour.

I'd credit Trump with making progress with North Korea, the Middle East and he's also standing up to China - the first Western leader to do that.

He's also stood up for his own country about the imbalance in trade arrangements between EU and US.

Meanwhile even though he withdrew the US from the Paris agreement, the US has continued to reduce CO2 emissions faster than the EU.

and on the figures I saw a couple of days ago, Trump increased his vote except with White Males, so I'm not sure how representative he is.

How would people have reacted if Rachel Riley had have come out with a similar reaction after Corbyn was defeated in Dec 19?

anyway, this is Covid - we should get back to that and start a new thread if you want to talk about the US election.
