Obviously the individual decides (in the Borrowdale thread case Balin) as to what they consider 'anti-whatever' or 'whatever-phobic' and feels the need to say so.
Personally there are things I occasionally find offensive that have reared their 'ugly-heads' on the forum from time to time but usually I just let it be coz I don't do arguments and anger.![]()
Like DT I don't care much for swearing, nor the arrogance of those who feel its ok to speed on country roads (they know who they are and on that occasion I felt the need to respond), but most of all I dislike any personal insults to fellow forumites - the irony of this is that, as FM alluded to earlier, Balin is as guilty of that as much as anyone![]()

I'm not sure I can add much more. I just wanted to get people to think a bit about what they say and how they say it. As for 'who decides?' I don't know but I tend to be guided by this: " The quality of your communication is determined by the receiver" so I try put myself in their shoes. All of this makes me sound like a really boring git so I'm going to shut up now.
Sorry FM I wasn't clear 'Thingy' was meant to be the forum name of the young gay man.

And therein lies the eloquent answer.
No-one is perfect, we are all capable of offence. Therefore, if something offends you stay away from that thing or that individual. That doesn't mean that you have to leave the forums here.....isn't there an option to not view a person's posts? If so, simply choose that option for the person who hath offended you....
I think I understand what you're trying to say here.....put yourself in the other persons shoes.....but, then where is your personality.....you'd end up never truly being yourself......that's not to say that you should never consider others, but there is a time and a place.
Never read the Daily Mail!
That's the point I'm trying to get across Grouse - you've just offended all Daily Mail readers as small minded little Englanders.
let me know where you and your mates are racing next, so I can avoid turning up and being picked on - don't you agree Henry?
Of course I'm not really offended or intimidated - but why is it OK to portray someone in the way you have, but claim offense when it suits.
