And so it should; try telling a screaming hysterical 5 year old that "it's ok, it's only playing" when a big noisy animal with sharp teeth keeps jumping up at his face
Just because your dog is well behaved (and I'm sure that you think it is) doesn't make the majority of ill-trained and poorly controlled animals any easier to deal with (and I'm not just talking about the dogs here!)
What ever happened to dog obedience classes and Barbara Woodhouse et al? So many dog owners just do not give a sh1t about how their animals can make others lives a misery.
No, I bet you can't; it's easier for you just to close your eyes and pretend it's not happening. You should be concerned though because it tarnishes the image of all dog owners.
I can't speak for where you live Stolly but in Burnley a significant minority of dog owners are exactly like this, I'd estimate at least one in four.
Nikalas; I agree but I've rarely seen a child reduce a dog to tears or bite its face.
My dog ate a two year old last night. He told me it was delicious! If only they sold them in Aldi life would be so much easier. Perhaps I could teach him to eat hysterical forumites. I bet their cheeks are tender with all the whittling on and whining they do......
I agree with you whole heartedly on this, in my original post I cited a lady who had her animal on a long lead that tried to take a chunk out of my dog. She was told.
I also cited the gentleman with the staffie and told him it needs to be castrated, I was very polite about this, but made it clear that in the long run it would be better for him and his dog.
Some members of the dog owning public are under the impression that their dogs are children. They are not, they are animals, as such they lack the capacity to understand a lot of what is said, you need to let it know who is boss.
Some of this I am not sure about, a dog will turn on a child if the child is being too rough with it. However a dog that will tear across a field or out of a gate to attack is a different matter. This dog should be destroyed. If a farmer can shoot on sight a dog worrying his livestock, why do people get away with this in parks, dangerous dogs need reporting to the police.
As said I have come across people who have no control over their dogs, but by and large, in my experience dog owners are better now than they have been in the past, in the past it was "oh he's just playing", maybe it's because I'm an adult people treat me with more respect.
There are some very poor dog owners out there who live in cloud cuckoo land , and they spoil it for everybody, adults, children and other dogs.
Is this in some sense supposed to be funny?
Those of us who choose not to own dogs are reasonably entitled to expect NEVER to be molested by the livestock of those who have chosen otherwise.
i suggest that if and when you are next confronted by a growling unpleasant canine you simply do your best to kick it to death.
