The rules state that written permission must be obtained from the organiser for any proposed transfer but that's something I can sort out.
I can't run either and have given my place to a mate. I emailed the organiser to sort out the written permission a few days ago but have had no response. Do you have a phone number for them? Thanks

I've emailed and phoned him today but had no response. His number is 01274 610132 (from the LDWA site) Mark Wilson.

If you get hold of him, please ask him to read my email too!

    Thanks.

Not much use am I? . Great that this is such a popular race though.

Not wishing to gloat, but I've managed to get a last minute transfer (acknowledged by the RO in writing) and am now going to do this. The problem is that, although I know Rombalds moor in particular and the area in general tolerably well there's no time for a recce. Any tips?

I've also not done a longie since Tour of Pendle and so may not be at my peak but that's another issue.

Will be a fair crowd to follow (assuming you're not planning on being at the front!) for most of the route so don't worry too much about not getting a recce in, although it might be worth a review of the thread and some Google earth research to get a handle on the Rocky Valley to Pancake Stone and subsequent Menston village sections. Plenty of useful info throughout the thread that I've found very helpful.

Agree with all what Pragmatic says, although apparently 2 or 3 years ago when the clag was down people were all over the place dropping down to Pipers Gate cp from Buckstones so hope for a good visibility day. No doubt you will also be aware that the dreaded flagstones now go all the way from Lanshaw Lad to the masts at Whetstone Gate.

A further tip is to hold a little back on the downhill West Chevin Road section before the toughest part of the whole route - the climb to top of Chevin.

I'm also short of long runs...longest since August has only been 13 miles but still hope to get round in close to 4 hours.

My one piece of advice would be not to even attempt running the Chevin section ! Power walk all the way !
